Last week I spoke to a State Farm No Fault adjuster. I asked him if he was prepared for the conversion to ICD 10. His response was, "I guess so." I asked him if he had any training. He said no. I asked if he had received any instructional material from the company, memos, policy statements, instructional information. He said no.
I asked him who is going to be making the decision regarding proper coding. He said, "the computer will do that." I asked him who was going to be importing data into the computer and he said, "I will do that.".
OH MY GOD!!! A totally untrained adjuster will be importing the data that and the computer will use to make the determination as to the appropriateness of the ICD 10 code!!! GOD HELP US ALL!!!
